22nd July 2011

The Redux "Vision" has been that only by finding the source code and building upon the Singleplayer Campaign assets can RedBaron3D become a Phoenix.

8 years of "CodeQuest" yielded a partial copy of the "lost" RB3D code in October 2010, and a more complete version in May 2011. The path: improbable...a kingdom inhabited by a Troll, A Smurf, a Wizard, a town Cassandra, a Wise Jester, a Muse, Kings's Men, the Fates...and more. TommyHawk is going through the code in a major cleanup, refactoring and fixing links, etc.; so far a Singleplayer exe has been produced for Redux beta testing. The team is working to optimize the Singleplayer exe to work on Win7, an uber critical marketing platform. The Multiplayer exe will come later, hopefully.

Playing around with obsolete stuff is pointless and won't bring back old fliers or recruit new ones. Our goal and driving force has been and is in giving everyone the RedBaron3D which could have been, playing in big weekend wars..without the glitches, with security for MMP, beautiful terrains for MMP and SP, smarter AI in SP, and a little higher polys for eye candy for both..little green men, and rear gunners in MMP. With the code, upgrading to OpenGL opens up many possibilities....

A 7 month production of the new Redux Multiplayer war arena called "iMap", based upon the actual WWI battlefields in northern Italy, was halted last November when the first piece of code was found. Development of advanced terrain tile design methodology, and a custom Redux console to switch out plane sets, tile sets, FMs, etc.,.continued, but could also become obsolete.

Graphics calls for higher polys would make all existing artwork obsolete. Enhanced Singleplayer and Multiplayer graphics could be created staying with Glide while building a new game, but would double the graphics cost. Either approach requires new artwork. The best pathway to advance remains under consideration, and complex. We will update on our progress

13th June 2011

Redux is going to make an upgrade of the website, so forum and some pages might not be available. The new website should be finished during Saturday, 25th June. Download of Red Baron Pack will not be interrupted.

Thank you for your patience.

18th December 2010

Redux has produced a comprehensive Console, a new terrain with minimal repeating tiles, compiled plane sets and other developments. The team has pushed the boundaries of terrain production repeatedly to higher and higher levels, making parts of previous levels of development obsolete. Yet another major window of technical evolution has been identified for terrains.

Rise of Flight has set the bar for WWI flight sims. An advanced RedBaron3D without glitches, an advanced security, rear gunners for two-seaters, with many more plane slots in open server Multiplayer, great new terrains without repeating tiles, higher resolution graphics without Glide and other cool stuff, can quickly position RedBaron3D into a strong niche of a low-cost, fun WWI sim.

You can check the latest screen shots of iMap in forum.

We will post more as things evolve.
Redux

28th September 2010

Redux is about reviving RedBaron3D and building the community with pilots who have never flown RedBaron, or veterans who will appreciate an improved version. Redux has produced a highly improved advanced flight model for the 22 primary planes, beyond the stock FM - Redux's Official FM/DM designer is Wolfgang von Wellhausen. Wolfgang will be exclusively updating a large number of planes over the next year which will be released for free.

16th August 2010

As we hear voices that Redux has canceled its project, we must inform you that everything you hear outside this website is just a tale. We are working silently and you can expect a big update to RB3D Multiplayer relatively early. You can fly on WWI-FM servers with our latest Patch or on AB1 WWI-FM Battle of Arras with "Battle of Arras" addition.

15th April 2010

Wolfgang von Wellhausen finished his flight and damage model of 22 stock planes so Redux is releasing patch 1.6 Gold, that is compatible with previous patch. Simply who has patch 1.6 downloaded already, doesn't have to install 1.6 Gold. However, we recommend to make a clear install of RB3D and install Redux over it to avoid any complications on servers.

Team Redux is now working on a new map of Northern Italy, with new landmarks, new custom objects, real cities, dynamic front. We expect release of the map in August or September.

27th March 2010

Redux is releasing patch 1.6a with complete map of Flanders with active no men's land. This patch is needed for tomorrow's battle of Arras. The update also contains kneeboard map of Flanders.

26th March 2010

Patch 1.6 has been released. It contains finished Wolfgang's FM and DM of 22 stock planes and a new map of Flanders with active no men's land.

19th March 2010

Redux is releasing next update - 1.5h. Wolfgang is finishing Flight and Damage Model our 22 stock planes, so this might be one of the last FM updates. Good luck in the air!

12th March 2010

Sunday's Funday was a great success and a whole lot of fun. The Nieuports were not flown a lot because they seemed to have excessive weaknesses for most people. Wolfgang got right on it and the Redux release 1.5g addresses Nieuport issues. But Wolfgang needs your feedback!

We are setting up the Island server this week to bring even more focus to the Nieuports and Albas. Please try to get together and fly this matchup, and also please report your observations, criticisms - anything, in the Redux forum preferably under Wolfgang's Hangar. When we start using these planes in wars, we want them to be as accurate as can be and that is very dependent upon your feedback to Wolfgang.

4th March 2010

We are probably in our final week of beta testing. This weekend's Funday on Saturday at 3pm EST will have two servers: 1) Some early war planes and 2) full plane list.

Other cool things will be coming, but this is very important to lock in the full 22 plane set FMs. While early may not be as popular as later planes, in full blown wars they become as fun and as important as all the others. Please join us in either server but fly the early planes too and shout out observations either directly in the servers, and/or in the forum or by email.

26th February 2010

Redux released patch 1.5c with updated flight model. This patch will be needed for next Funday on Saturday 27th.

20th February 2010

We release new update, focused on early planes. This patch will be required for tomorrow's Fun Day. We are making progress on map of Northern Italy, area between Rovereto and Trento has been almost finished. Now our team is dealing with landmarks and new custom 3D models of ground objects. Here we are posting some shots, it's still WIP.

18th February 2010

Redux is pleased to announce that this weekend's Funday will have two servers - one with All Planes and the other Early War Planes as last week. Wolfgang has worked on the DH2's problems, and he is happy with the results. Take your choice of Servers, but please remember that the work is for you and your Beta Testing is critical to what is coming later. So, consider spending some time in the Early War Planes server. S!

13th February 2010

We released an update for the Redux beta FM. Update 1.5 is now available in Downloads section. WWI-FM servers will be switched to 1.5 on Saturday 13th at 6pm EST. Good luck in the air!

11th February 2010

The Redux beta FM testing and development is approximately one month from completion, but will continue on some planes up until the last minute of the total Redux package release. The final FM will be completed in private sessions and will not be released until it is combined with other developments. Areas for improvement will be drawn from continuing FunDays and will be combined with unreleased enhancements.

29th January 2010

New update 1.3b for WWI-FM has been released. We dealt mainly with the later (1918) planes last month, so next Fun Day, on Sunday 31th we would like to test the early planes. Now you should immediately notice if you're flying plane with rotary or in-line engine.

We are also making progress in creating new map of Northern Italy. At the same time, we are finishing another project, a new map of Verdun. Stay tuned, we expect release of the Verdun during next week. Some graphic updates for TrackIR/Freetrack users has been made - in F2 (slew) view.

23rd January 2010

Redux has released patch 1.3. It contains updated Flight and Damage model of Fokker D.VII, Fokker Dr.I, Albatros D.II, Albatros D.III, Albatros D.Va, Sopwith Camel, Sopwith Triplane and S.E.5a. You will be able to fly with this new patch from 12am (noon) EST on Saturday 23rd January. We are working on many new updates, not only FM/DM, that will be ready soon. Funday server on Sunday will require this patch. Good luck in the air!

21st January 2010

Patch 1.2b has been released. It's available in Downloads section. WWI-FM servers will switch to this version on Friday 22nd at 12:00am (noon) EST.

16th January 2010

We are waiting for the D7 uber fix. Please check up until the last hour or so, or even 15 minutes before the 3pm EST war on Sunday the 17th for the fix download.

13th January 2010

WWI-FM files are only used in WWI-FM Redux servers, therefore to minimize glitches, please put the following in your mplayer.ini folder in your main Red Baron 3D install:

If you have the 3 ips in "knownservers", comment out all the metas.

[KnownServers]
Server=UDP:216.18.240.30:55210 ; Redux 1
Server=UDP:216.18.240.30:55456 ; Redux 2
Server=UDP:216.18.240.30:55400 ; Redux 3

This is all that's needed. Comment out, or delete the metas. This is example of mplayer.ini.

5th January 2010

After certain events and communications over the weekend, a plan was devised and communicated to the Redux team to accelerate focus on producing an entirely new package containing exciting custom terrain tiles, custom paints and planes, objects and security. All of these and other developments are and have been in the Redux pipeline for awhile, and the security suite code was bought as the first step, followed by a contract to build an extraordinary new war arena based in the Italian Alps. The FM/DM is in beta but is advancing nicely with the community's help. Advanced security is under development, and the pesky flame boot problem's days are numbered. We have commitments from various people in the community for active developmental support, many from the SWWISA forum members.

We decided to temporarily use the freeware of the original Promised Land, and due to its long-standing glitches for many people, we put in PL2. The FCJ console was put in because some people like to be able to adjust their graphics. It was a non-essential add-on to benefit the community, as was/is any package that Redux will make available. For the good of the community, rather than depending on programs which are in serious legal chaos, we are eliminating them from the download. There will be a new graphics console.

There has always been an effort to block advancements in Red Baron3D which would bring the community together, and to have a single downloadable package to make installation easy for all, especially new pilots. The tools for having a single download for MMP player have always been there, but when the goal is and has been to ignore Multiplayer, and to prevent any advancement by others, including acquisition of the code in 2003, it means that people who do want an improved Red Baron 3D have to go past such barriers and do it themselves. That is what Redux is doing, for you.

4th January 2010

The RedBaron3D Official Site and the RedBaron3D-Redux project are pleased to announce that J5 CO Paul Baumer, and Otto von Stachel have joined the Redux Project.

Paul Baumer - CEO - Paul will be involved in all aspects of the project, as well as public relations and business development. Business development means applying a business approach to a decidedly non-profit project. Paul has proven himself to be a solid team leader for his squad, and has garnered good relations with and respect from with a wide range of people throughout the Red Baron3D community. http://www.jasta5.org
